The Veronica Dunne Bursary for Young Irish Singers is delighted to award its inaugural opera bursaries to six young singers to help mentor and support them in developing their future singing careers. The singers who have been awarded bursaries are:

€15,000 Bursary Fund
The Friends of the Vocal Arts is delighted to introduce the Veronica Dunne Bursary for Young Irish Singers, a new funding and mentoring initiative to develop Irish singing talent. With an overall fund of €15,000, the distribution of these awards will reflect the jury’s assessment of each recipient’s needs. On the basis of performance and interview, the experienced judging panel will devise a bespoke career plan for the successful singers. These personalised pathways could contribute to their development through such intensive work as musical or language coachings/ stagecraft classes and masterclasses.
WHEN
7th–8th November 2020
On Saturday, November 7th, up to 30 singers will perform 2 arias each. On Sunday, November 8th, 10 finalists will have interviews with the jury followed by a performance of 2 arias.
WHERE
Dublin, Ireland
Performances will take place in person at the Whaley Room, Museum of Literature Ireland, St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2

BURSARY ELIGIBILITY
The Bursary is open to Irish singers, born on or after February 1st 1989, living in Ireland or abroad and also singers of any nationality who are resident or studying in Ireland. Read the rules before you apply.
